Above is a link to a blog by Tom Davis- It reveals an article published on March 8,2010. The same week I happened to be in Swaziland this was written in the Swazi newspaper called the Swazi Observer.
It is titled ” 80 Reported Kids Raped in Swaziland Since January”- this is the reality in Swaziland and it hurts my heart to read it. Please pray for these women and little girls, and all those being raped and abused. It talks about the new laws trying to be passed, I really pray they do. These girls need to be protected, and most of all covered in prayer.
God I pray that you would be with the people of Swaziland, especially the girls and women being abused. God I know that you are in control and have an amazing plan for these girls. I pray that whatever laws and bills that would help these acts stop would be passed and put into place. Please send people to show those who have been hurt true love and acceptance through you. Mend their hearts and minds Lord.Amen
Unfortunately, girls and women are still treated as property in much of the world. A few years ago, World Vision highligted their plight in a “Year of the girl child” campaign.
International Justice Mission http://www.ijm.org works within countries to identify applicable laws and lead enforcement efforts in this regard. Not certain whether they work in Swaziland.
