So since it was mothers day on Sunday morning, the pastors wife did the sermon that morning. We are doing a series at our church called
Larger Than Life.
We are talking about how to live more for God and see the bigger picture. Anyways, that particular morning I was pretty tired, and doing my best to stay awake and listen. After the sermon, we took communion followed by offering. It seems like after a while, the pastor says the same old thing before offering and before commmunion. Sometimes it becomes habit to just listen and not take everything they are saying in. Most of the time he will talk about tithing. So I found my self not really listening, I was kind of off in my own little world. When I sort of felt God nudge me and say LISTEN UP!!! When I did listen to what she was saying I was glad I had.
We put our offering into little envelopes and mark where we want it to go.usually I just write Tithes and offering. But every once in a while I put it in the misssions fund, and pray that it will go to someone in need of raising funds, like myself.
On this day instead of talking about why it is good for us to tithe 10% of our earnings or anything like that. she talked about missions, and how it is important for us to give to missions, because this is the way we spread Gods word. Offering and such is usually used towards ministry in the church. But having money in the missions fund, helps the church mobilize people for his name, and helps the church outreach to the community. Which our church does a lot of! The thing that really spoke to me was when she talked abot how God promises to multipy our gifts for his kingdom. She read some specific verses and elaborated on this topic. But I remember clearly the second she said multipy. The thing that came to my mind was, that Africa is about $9,000 and when I come home I want to go to Northwestern which is about $ 27,000 9×3=27. I don’t know reading this, may seem like I am just thinking too much about it, or it doesn’t matter. But I really felt God tell me that he has everything taken care of. Like I wrote about in my update letter, I have a problem with worrying about things that I shouldn’t.
So to me her talking about this, and those numbers popping into my head like that was like WHOA! I am excited to go to Africa to further Gods kingdom!!! I am putting all preperation, and financial stuff into his hands.
sorry about the rambling 🙂
