My name is Abby Braun, I am from MN. I am 18 years old. Next year I will be going to Swaziland, South Africa. It will be my first time doing mission work out of the country,so I am sooo excited… so to tell you a little bit about myself: First of all I love to sing. I am in 2 choirs and take voice lessons, I sing every chance I get. I recently started taking guitar lessons, which is pretty fun, I used to take piano, but I stopped after like 4 years.Tennis is my favorite sport, I have played for 6 years.I also love theatre, I have been in various shows throughout my life, right now I am in Guys and Dolls. -
I became a christian when I was about 10 years old at a bible camp I used to go to. Since then I have been growing in my faith everyday, I have finally started to see how great God really is and how much we need to trust him in our everyday lives. I believe that God is going to use me in an amazing way on this trip. My main reaction when thinking about what I would do after I graduated was to go to college and get a degree in music missions or something like that, but God has layed it upon my heart to go directly into the mission field for the time being. When I get home I plan on going to Northwestern college, but we’ll see where God takes me.
1 Corinthians 9 is my favorite chapter of the Bible~
Hi Abby –
I’ve been reading through your blogs and really enjoy your spirit. It’s fantastic!
Keep it up! I also have a book recommendation for you. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. It’s a fictional story set back in 1959 about a Baptist preacher and his family that go to Africa to spread the word of God. They have four daughters and though I can’t remember all their specific characterics I think you would find some relation to each daughter. After reading your blogs that story came to my mind and I believe it would bring you inspiration as you set out on your next leg of your missionary trip. You’re always in my “special needs” decade of my rosary and I’ll continue to keep you there as you search and find your next steps in life. God Bless and Take Care!
